The award is open for one laboratory animal technical person who is a member of Scand-LAS and who has shown exceptional potential for personal growth.
The application must include a full Curriculum Vitae (CV), a statement concerning the applicants motivation for attending the AALAS Annual Convention, and a letter of recommendation.

Given the possibility of travel and attending an AALAS Annual Convention would give the winner new knowledge and expand their horizon therefore widening their experience in how laboratory animal science is progressing in the world.

The first award will be given ($ 3,500) for attending the 2008 AALAS meeting. The award funds are to include payments for a one year membership in AALAS, annual AALAS meeting registration fee, and all other travel expenses. All arrangements are to be handled by awardee/Scand-LAS.

Ms. Christina Ljung, Karolinska University Hospital was announced as the 2008 award recipient and the decision was unanimous by U. K. Stephens and the Scand-LAS Governing Board.

Ms. Ljung will be visiting University of Purdue, hosted by Mr. Fred Douglas and his family, before attending the 2008 Annual AALAS Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana as a new international member of AALAS.
